Description:President - The Earthquake Engineering Research Institute is a national, nonprofit, technical society of engineers, geoscientists, architects, planners, public officials, and social scientists. EERI members include researchers, practicing professionals, educators, government officials, and building code regulators. The objective of EERI is to reduce earthquake risk by advancing the science and practice of earthquake engineering, by improving understanding of the impact of earthquakes on the physical, social, economic, political and cultural environment, and by advocating comprehensive and realistic measures for reducing the harmful effects of earthquakes.

Description:This conference, held every spring at SJSU for the last 27 years, is aimed at encouraging young women to pursue careers in math, science, and engineering. Between 500 and 900 6th through 9th grade girls attend hands-on workshops facilitated by women professionals at this one day conference.
