Program-Specific Requirements
Submit the following required materials to the Department of Design via the Slideroom portal:

An online portfolio (website) of work with at least 10 projects exhibited. The portfolio should demonstrate your abilities, experience and knowledge in the field of design (graphic design, industrial design, product design, user-experience design, user-interface design, interaction design, data visualization, information design and/or other related disciplines).

A One-page response (maximum 800 words) addressing all three questions below. Focus on clarity and conciseness while summarizing your goals, motivations and areas of interest.

Why pursue a master's degree in design? Explain why you are interested in advancing your education in design, why this is the right time, and why you have chosen SJSU for your studies.

How has your background influenced your decision? Describe how your professional or educational experiences have sparked your interest in pursuing this degree and outline your career aspirations after graduation.

What areas of design do you want to explore? Share the specific topics or design areas you are interested in researching as part of your master's project.
