Dr. Gita Mathur is a Professor in the School of Management in the College of Business at San Jose State University. Her research interests are in the management of technological innovation, product development, and project management processes. Her teaching interests and courses taught include strategic management, operations management, project management, product development, and management of technological innovation. 

Prior to joining the faculty at San Jose State University in 2002, Dr. Mathur had several years of industry and consulting experience with technology-based companies. She held engineering and management positions in the semiconductor industry and managed a Gallium Arsenide wafer fabrication operation for Harris Corporation (1985-1991). She was a Principal with the management consulting firm PRTM where she assisted start-up and multi-division clients with the definition and improvement of their operational processes and organizational capabilities (1996-2000). She has conducted workshops and training sessions on product development at several companies and has facilitated senior management decision-making teams, product development teams, and cross-functional project teams.

Dr. Mathur holds B.Tech. and M.Tech. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (1978, 1981), a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (1985), an MBA from UC Berkeley (1991), and a DBA in Technology and Operations Management from Harvard Business School (1996).
