Amor Santiago is a graduate of Westmont College and the California College of Podiatric Medicine. After private practice, in 1990, he completed a Master in Public Health degree from San Jose State University.
Since that time, Dr. Santiago has been a health educator and administrator serving as a consultant at San Jose Medical Center and as Project Officer for the Municipal Health Services Program for the City of San Jose. He was the founding Executive Director of the Community Health Partnership of Santa Clara County and from 1996 until 2003, he was the President and CEO of Asian Americans for Community Involvement.
He formed a consulting company, Santiago & Martin Research, Consulting & Enterprises, LLC. His company worked with nonprofit organizations, political candidates and businesses to develop their capacity through strategic and business planning, and fund development.
Dr. Santiago has been the Executive Director of the India Community Center which is focused on fostering health and wellness, cultural activities and values to enrich lives and build communities. Until recently, he was Vice President and Director of the Healthy Living Initiative, which was focused in the area of wellness, at The Health Trust. In addition, while there, he served as the Director of Healthy Silicon Valley, a collaborative of over 100 organizations seeking to address the epidemic of overweight and obesity in the region by facilitating a continuum of prevention activities including individual behavior, the built environment and organizational/government policy.
Dr. Santiago is currently Executive Director of APA Family Support Services. The agency uses a model of in-home visitation and case management, offering a continuum of services for Asian immigrant families at risk of child abuse and domestic violence. The continuum of services spans from perinatal prevention and early intervention to clinical counseling and treatment.
Dr. Santiago is a certified massage therapist and practices in San Francisco and San Jose.
He is Co-Chair of the API Council and he is a member of the Citizens Advisory Committee of the Santa Clara County Open Space Authority.
He has been a faculty lecturer since 2001.
