Welcome to my SJSU web page. I look forward to teaching Spring. I hope you will join me for one of the exciting philosophy courses. We live in interesting times. Whether we discuss moral responsibility in social issues or business; or, we debate God's existence, we are discussing and debating ideas. Ideas rule the world. I hope to see you!

Bio

I have been teaching for thirteen years and my background has supported my teaching efforts while reminding me I always have more to learn. I earned my bachelor's degree at Dominican University in San Rafael, California, in humanities and a minor in religious studies. I believe humanities is a great undergraduate major because it builds a broad depth of knowledge which makes for a great foundation. I earned my first master's degree at the University of San Francisco, in theology. Building on my undergraduate work, theology gave me a level of expertise in biblical texts, exegesis, and religious studies. At USF I worked under John H. Elliott, a prominent exegete. Having a sound grasp of how people relate texts to their everyday living has been valuable for many reasons including understanding current global issues with religion(s). I came to SJSU to earn a master's degree in philosophy with an emphasis in ethics. I particularly wanted to work with Dr. Rita Manning and Dr. William Shaw, two prominent ethicists. To my delight, every professor with whom I have worked at SJSU in the philosophy department, has proven to be expert in their areas and excellent teachers. I am proud to have earned a master's degree here at SJSU and I am thrilled to teach here.
I teach introduction to philosophy, philosophy of religion, moral philosophy, and professional and business ethics.
