Bio

Professor Abrams has been lecturing at SJSU since 1998.  He was originally selected to develop the curricula and teach RTFV 135 Advanced Digital Audio Production, a Pro Tools lecture and lab class where students can earn Digidesign Pro Tools 101/110 certification. He soon became a lecturer for RTFV 120 Intermediate Audio, Radio Programming and Production and RTVF 20 Beginning Audio.

Besides lecturing at SJSU, Mr. Abrams is the full time Production Director and an announcer at KBLX-FM in San Francisco since 1984. In this capacity he voices, records and produces commercials and station promos, and has been producing digital audio on a variety of platforms on a daily basis since 1997. His previous work includes radio stations in the San Francisco Bay Area, the California Central Coast and Texas.

Like many of our students Mr. Abrams first exposure to radio work began at school. His experience extends from high school, to college and continues to pro radio.  In his long career, Mr. Abrams has gained experience as a programmer, music director, newsperson, copywriter, disc jockey, freelance announcer and voice actor, and audio producer.

Mr. Abrams is a board member of the San Francisco local of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA). He is a cum laude graduate of San Francisco State University’s Broadcast and Electronics Communications Arts Department in Radio and Television.
