I am the chairperson of the Department of Meteorology and Climate Science at San Jose State University. Our department is the only one in the entire CalState campuses offers bachelor's degree program in meteorology. I am also serving as the Director of the Center for Applied Atmospheric Research and Education (CAARE). CAARE is a NASA MUREP funded center established in 2015. The main research thrusts include: Urban heat island (UHI) and Climate Variability; Aerosol and its Impacts on Air Quality, Weather and Regional Climate; Wildfire Impacts on Air Quality; and Public Health linkages to Air Quality, Weather and Climate. Undergrad and grad students are involved in research activities. Summer short courses, internships and symposium are being offered constantly.
