Professionalism in Class

Policy on Professionalism in Class*

Students should conform to generally accepted notions of professionalism that would be observed in the real business world, including but not limited to the following:

  1. Arrive at scheduled meetings early to be on time, prepared to begin promptly at the appointed hour.
  2. Refrain from disruptive conduct, such as carrying on private sidebar conversations with classmates, during class. Students shall turn off all cell phones, PDAs, and similar communications electronic devices before class. Any student whose device goes off during class shall provide pizza and soft drinks for the class at a future session to be arranged.
  3. Be prepared to turn in written work at the beginning of class on the due date. All work shall be typed or word-processed double-spaced on 8 &1/2 x 11" paper using 12 point font and 1" margins all around (you would not turn in hand-scribbled notes at work, nor would you turn in reports or projects late or incomplete; the same will be true here).
  4. There are no make-ups for missed quizzes, exams, papers, or other class exercises. If you expect outside obligations to keep you from engaging fully in all class activities on a regular basis, you should take the course some other time.
  5. Be prepared to participate in class discussions and exercises every class period.
  6. Check the course website often, particularly the days of and before class.

*Remaining in the class signifies your consent, understanding and agreement
