I joined the Computer Engineering Department in Fall 2002. Prior to my appointment with SJSU, I worked in content networking division in Inktomi Corporation.
In Computer Engineering department, I regularly teach classes in networking and security, which align very well with my research interests. I enjoy watching my students develop and mature through the degree program, and am proud of being part of their academic success and career advancement.
My research interests lie in broad areas of computer networking, multimedia communications, network security, and mobile computing. I have been a principle or co-principle investigator in multiple grants, from both industry, the National Science Foundation (NSF) and NASA. These grants helped building better learning and research environments for my students. In 2006, I received the National Science Foundation CAREER award, a five-year grant supporting my work in developing an integrated coding and transmission research framework for multimedia streaming. In the past few years, I have served as a NSF panelist, chaired multiple international workshops and symposiums, and worked on technical program committees on dozens of international conferences. I am a senior member of IEEE and ACM.
