Dean of the College of Applied Sciences and the Arts Michael Ego recently served on a panel on Health Care: the Next "Perfect Storm"? with Martin Fishman, past president, Santa Clara County Medical Association, William Piche, CEO, Good Samaritan Hospital, and Linda Gold, CEO, M3i Works. The event, co-sponsored by Alza Corp., The Health Trust, Santa Clara County Medical Association, Silicon Valley Manufacturing Group, San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce and Hospital Council, brought stakeholders together to discuss critical healthcare issues including reimbursement, workforce and rising cost of healthcare. This month, Joseph Frank, professor of music and dance, performed in the world premiere of Deborah Drattell’s "Nicholas and Alexandra" with the Los Angeles Opera, which featured Pl?cido Domingo in his 120th role. K.C. Leung, professor of foreign languages, served as a member of an international panel arranged by the Hong Kong Council of Academic Accreditation to review the Chu Hai College bachelor of arts program. Leung also attended an international conference on Tolerance and Chinese Literature at the University of London. Says Leung, while researching at Oxford University, he was able to help the librarian push back the date of a rare Chinese edition in its holdings from the 18th century. Dennis Wilcox, director of the School of Journalism and Mass Communications, has been appointed as a guest reviewer and member of the international advisory board for the Journal of Communication Arts, which is published quarterly by the Faculty of Communication Arts at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok.
