Mark Hispanic Heritage Month by attending "Forty Years of the Chicano Movement in San José: Community Based Organizing in the Movimiento, Then and Now" at 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, in the Roosevelt Community Center. The speakers are Sofia Mendoza, United People Arriba member; Adriana Garcia, MAIZ founder; the Rev. Deacon Sal Alvarez, former SJSU associate professor of social work; and David Madrid of Silicon Valley De-Bug. The moderator will be Maribel Martinez, César E. Chávez Community Action Center program manager. Sponsors include the Chávez Center, Movimiento de Accion Inspirando Servicio, and Teatro Vision.
