For the second consecutive year, an SJSU animation and illustration student has received one of the field's top honors.
SJSU Senior Priscilla Wong has been named the 2010 Zankel Scholar by the New York Society of Illustrators. The prize comes with a $20,000 scholarship.
To apply, Wong submitted a portfolio and essay, and was interviewed in Manhattan. There, she met the two other finalists, both from the Rhode Island School of Design.
Wong called her New York trip "amazing and humbling." One highlight was visiting 2009 Zanker Scholar and SJSU alumnus Jake Panian, now a concept artist at Blue Sky Studios in Greenwich, Conn.
