Our online Master of Science in Transportation Management (MSTM) program — offered by the Lucas Graduate School of Business in partnership with the Mineta Transportation Institute (MTI) — gives you the competitive edge to stand out to the nation’s top transit employers.

Our comprehensive, accelerated curriculum focuses specifically on multimodal surface transportation policy, planning and management systems. Unlike narrow engineering tracks, this unique program equips you with systemic leadership skills, preparing you for success in transit agencies, public works departments, major infrastructure projects and private-sector logistics firms.

How to Apply

 
  • Have a bachelor’s (any major) from an accredited institution.

  • GPA of at least 2.5, 3.0 recommended. Optional: applicants with a GPA below 3.0 may submit GMAT or GRE scores to demonstrate readiness for graduate work.

Out-of-State Requirements

  • U.S. Residency: The MSTM program only admits applicants who are already living in the United States. Check whether your state permits residents to register for online programs at SJSU.

  • An English language proficiency test (TOEFL, IELTS or PTE) is required if a student's baccalaureate was earned outside of the US. For more information, visit the graduate admissions site.

  • Applicants with international degrees outside the U.S. or Canada must have their transcripts evaluated by WES, ACEI, ECE, or TEC and sent to SJSU directly from the evaluation agency.

  • Application opens July 1; deadline of November 1 for Spring admission.

  • Application opens August 1; deadline of May 1 for Fall admission.

  • Apply through Cal State Apply and submit the required documents.
