Biography
Elizabeth Ansnes, a fourth generation native of San Francisco, received
her B.A., M.A., and completed coursework for the Ph.D. at the University
of California, Berkeley, finishing in 1966. She has since taught at several
Bay Area Community Colleges, and has been a lecturer at San Jose
State since 1992. Her teaching specialties include the United States
history survey and critical thinking. Her particular areas of interest focus
on England and America in the 17th and 18th century, and history of
women, especially in the late 19th century.

Other academic areas of interest include historical archaeology and
material culture and she worked on a 17th century archaeology site on
the James River in 1989 under sponsorship of the National Endowment
for the Humanities. She is also interested in local and community history
and historic preservation, and has authored a book on historic resources
for a local community. At San Jose State she particularly enjoys meeting
new students and their parents at new student orientation.
