Biography
Amy McNamara studied business administration and history at San Jose State University from 1975-1978. She then transferred to College of Notre Dame (now Notre Dame de Namur University) where she received a B.Sc. in Business Administration in 1982. For the next 20 years she worked as a project manager at Hewlett-Packard, Apple Computer, Sun Microsystems and other high-tech firms. In 2003 she returned to San Jose State to study her first love: history. She received her M.A. in history in 2006, the same year she began teaching American history survey courses at local community colleges. Her interests include foreign policy, twentieth-century politics, the immigrant experience, women, music, popular culture and mass media.
