Income Tax Workshop (Download Flyer)
International Students F-1/J-1 Status!
For 2010, were you present in the United States for Five years or less?
If so, did you know that you have a reporting responsibility to the Internal Revenue Service?
If you worked or received taxable payments during the 2010 reporting year, you are required to complete and file Federal Forms 8843 and 1040NR or 1040NR-EZ If you did not work, nor receive taxable payments, during the 2010 reporting year, you are still required to complete and file the document Form 8843 ONLY.
If you have questions regarding the preparation of these documents, the following workshops will be held in Clark Hall, 5th floor, HR Training Center, room 547 to assist you:

IMPORTANT—Each participant must bring:
- Required IRS federal forms, as indicated above—these can
be downloaded from http://www.irs.gov/formspubs/
- All 2010 income earning statements, such as: Form W-2,
1042-S, 1099-MISC, 1099-INT, etc.
- Passport and listing of U.S. entry/exit travel for years 2008,
2009, and 2010
- Copies of Year 2009 tax filing(s)—if applicable
Tax filing for the State of California will also be covered
Immigration Advising 
Hours
International students may meet with and International Student advisor
during the walk-in advising hours:
Monday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 11:30 am, and from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm;
appointments available upon request for currently enrolled students.
Workshops
Student must be on time to these workshop. Once workshop starts no one
will be allowed to come in late.
- F-1 Work Opportunities
Wednesday at 3:00 pm and Thursday at 10:30 am in Clark Hall, 5th Floor, room 543.
(Effective for fall 2006: All students will be required to attend this workshop before applying for employment authorization during the fall 2006 term and onward)
- Change of Status to F-1
Tuesday at 3:00 pm in Clark Hall, 5th Floor, room 543
(Information session on how to obtain F-1 status, for those currently in another non-immigrant visa status)
