Goals of the Major

The educational, research, and service activities of the Undergraduate Program are organized to address goals in the following areas:

  • Fundamental academic skills that ensure competency as readers, writers, data analysts, and critical thinkers.
  • Foundations for understanding the physiological, social, cultural, economic, and behavioral factors influencing health, disease, and disability throughout the lifespan.
  • Technical skills needed to gather, analyze, describe, and report information about health, disease, and health-care delivery.
  • Administration and organizational skills for planning and implementing health and health care service delivery, incorporating economic, financing, and marking principles.
  • Behavioral science skills for understanding and applying theories that influence individual and group health.
