Tutoring services are provided by peer tutors for San José State University (SJSU) students in many introductory and intermediate courses.
Students can sign up for appointments 2 weeks in advance or come in for same-day appointments. Appointments are for 30 minutes or an hour. Students who have completed the Student Information Card for the current semester may also call the Learning Assistance Resource Center (LARC) office at (408) 924-2587 to schedule an appointment.
Please review the Center's policies here.
All services are only offered to matriculated SJSU students, free of charge.
"My tutor asks me questions that help me discover the answers for myself."
Tutors work with groups of up to four students from the same course. The groups are formed as students register for their appointments. Students can make up to two 1-hour appointments per course each week, and up to 4 hours per week. Appointments can be made up to two weeks in advance.
This type of assistance is valuable for students who may be underprepared or anxious about course materials, students with certain learning disabilities, or students needing more concentrated assistance.
We now offer evening tutoring in the Living Learning Center (LLC) in Campus Village B! LARC tutors will be available to assist with Math (lower division courses) and Writing (courses 100W or lower) on Mondays and Tuesdays, 6:00-8:00pm. Appointments are not needed - just stop by and drop in! Services are available to all regularly enrolled SJSU students.
