Mission Statement
In support of San José State University's educational mission,
the Learning Assistance Resource Center is designed to assist students
in the development of their full academic potential and to motivate
them to become self-directed learners. The center provides support
services, such as skills assessment, individual or group tutorials,
subject advising, learning assistance, summer academic preparation
and basic skills development. All services are free for registered
San José State University students.
Goals
- In collaboration with students, faculty, staff and administrators,
the Learning Assistance Resource Center serves as a resource for
the campus and its community.
- The staff of learning specialists uses a systematic approach to
provide short-term intervention and long-term skills development
that fit individual needs for students to succeed.
- The center is dedicated to support the curriculum offered by the
university faculty and to serve as a supplemental instrument for
classroom instruction.
- The center provides an enriching learning experience that benefits
all students.
- The center promotes a nurturing atmosphere that stimulates enthusiasm
and motivates students to pursue knowledge and independent thinking.
