Writing Across the Curriculum

The Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) movement is based on the premise that writing is a valuable tool for promoting students' learning, analysis, and problem solving abilities as well as a means of communicating what they already have learned. WAC programs emphasize the benefits of including writing in all the disciplines across the university curriculum. Because LARC staff members view writing as an important vehicle for learning, growth, and communication, we are committed to assisting faculty with their efforts to use writing effectively in their courses. Several links to online resources likely to be helpful to faculty interested in WAC are listed below. LARC's writing coordinator, Judy Hilliard, is available for individual consultations or group workshops with SJSU faculty who want advice about incorporating writing into their courses.
