The Silicon Valley Big Data and Cybersecurity Center supports the development of a broadly informed and well prepared citizenry and workforce who understand the security, privacy and policy challenges of a highly integrated, information-rich world, and who have in particular an appreciation of how big data methods can be used to gather, extract and present information.
In support of its goals, the Center is cultivating an environment of multidisciplinary collaboration with faculty across the university. In addition, the Center is building partnerships with Silicon Valley companies and educational institutions to engage in education programs, product incubations, and research projects. The Center’s current efforts are in developing grant proposals, offering certificate courses, promoting existing degree programs, incubating multidisciplinary degree programs, providing professional training, and developing a new facility for the Center.
The Center is currently led by the Center Director, Dr. Lee Chang. He is also serving as the chief operating and program officer. Dr. Chang is the Chair of the Department of Applied Science, the College of Professional and Global Education. He was the Director of Software Engineering Program jointly offered by Computer Engineering and Computer Science Departments.
