Tea and Zen Have One Taste - Practice

Text and Images from Slide

. . . Rests in a liminal space . . .

A small shed-like structure containing a wooden bench on which the guests sit as they wait for a tea gathering to start. The roof is covered with cedar shingles and the front edge is lined with a bamboo rain gutter. The waiting area is connected to a larger building. In the wall on the left side of the structure, there is an opening like a window with a bamboo grating across it. Stones are set in the cement in front of the bench on which the guests can rest their feet. Shrubs and bamboo can be seen in the tea garden in front of the waiting bench.
