Edward Mamary earned his DrPH degree from the University of California at Berkeley and his MS degree from Hunter College, CUNY. He joined the SJSU Health Science Department in 1998. Prior to coming to SJSU, he worked for many years as an evaluation specialist for the San Francisco STD/HIV Prevention Training Center, one of four national centers funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Dr. Mamary was past co-vice president of national SOPHE and co-chair of SOPHE's faculty caucus and is currently an Executive Board Member for the Association of Accredited Public Health Programs. He was also a past Co-president of NC-SOPHE and until 2011, served on the National Board of Public Health Examiners. Dr. Mamary's main research interests include: increasing access to health services for those in need; promoting innovative training opportunities for the public health workforce through capacity building; and HIV prevention with marginalized populations.
