The American Public Health Association (APHA) is the oldest and largest organization of public health professionals in the world, representing more than 50,000 members from over 50 occupations of public health. The mission of the 3500 member Public Health Education & Health Promotion Section is two-fold: 1) To be a strong advocate for health education, disease prevention and health promotion in all activities of the Association; and 2) To set, maintain, and exemplify the highest ethical principles and standards of practice on the part of all professionals and disciplines whose primary purpose is health education, disease prevention and/or health promotion. APHA publishes the leading journal in the field of public health: American Journal of Public Health. Dr. Roe (Health Science Dept. Chair) has served as a member of the Governing Council.
