Software Engineering, Specialization in Cybersecurity (MS)
With the global threats of cyber-crime, information vulnerability and infrastructure dependence on computer-based and networked systems, our nation’s continued safety and economic prosperity increasingly depends on the availability of a significantly increased cyber-security competent workforce. The program aligns with the nationally defined knowledge areas and provides the students with the knowledge and skills to become professionals in cyber security and information assurance.
Certificate options: The MSSE, Cybersecurity is broken into 3 stackable certificate phases. Each certificate can be completed independent of the degree or combined for the complete MSSE.

The specialization in Cybersecurity is very attractive in the market (40% of the current need for cybersecurity professionals is unfilled) and will provide access to the full range of technology companies, ranging from small start-ups to well-established leaders.

Applying to the Program
Prospective students interested in the program are encouraged to complete a prequalification form so that a faculty advisor can review your background and make a determination about your suitability for the program.
The Minimum Requirement:
- A 4-year B.S. degree. An undergraduate degree in computer science, computer engineering,
software engineering or closely related discipline. Post-baccalaureate professional
experience may be accepted as an alternative for applicants from other engineering
or science disciplines (e.g., physics, mathematics, electrical engineering).
B.S. (or equivalent) degrees from other countries are acceptable.
- A 3.0 or above GPA based on last 60 technical semester units, last 90 quarter technical units, or all degree units.
- An English language proficiency test (TOEFL, IELTS or PTE) is required if a student’s baccalaureate was earned outside of the US. The applicant must satisfy the university minimum requirements.
