Dr. Anne Demers, Associate Professor and the MPH Program Campus Coordinator, joined the department in 2000 and became fulltime faculty in 2005. She teaches theory, community organizing, and leadership courses. Her research interests are in qualitative methods, and her focus population is military service members, veterans, and their loved ones. Dr. Demers has co-developed curriculum to assist veterans in their transition from military to civilian life and has designed two courses: Warriors at Home: Succeeding in College, Life and Relationships; and Writing for Professionals: Skills for Veterans. She has been an invited keynote speaker and presented her work at numerous professional conferences and summits, including the Department Of Defense Task Force on Veterans' Mental Health and the Aspen Institute's Veterans Initiative Summit. She is the Past Chair of SJSU's Veterans Advisory Committee. Her favorite pastimes include cooking, dancing and traveling.
