Become an Innovative Systems Engineer

Interdisciplinary engineering or systems engineering combines skills and knowledge from several engineering fields and prepares people to work with both engineering and non-engineering groups.

Our Bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Engineering is located in our nationally-ranked SJSU Davidson College of Engineering. The courses are designed and taught by our renowned SJSU faculty, which means that you will earn the same quality degree as all of our SJSU graduates and have the same opportunity to proudly cross the stage during your SJSU commencement ceremony.

Convenient Program Structure

We know that you're balancing several priorities, so we've designed this program to provide you with the flexibility you need to complete your bachelor's degree.

  • Apply on a rolling basis for a fall, spring or summer start.

  • Maximize the number of credits you transfer to minimize your time to completion.

  • Enroll in classes year-round during five, eight-week terms.

  • Participate in classes on your own time, as well as during scheduled weeknights and weekends.

  • Engage with your faculty and classmates on a regular basis.

Valuable Learning Experiences

Our courses will equip you with an interdisciplinary understanding of multiple engineering disciplines and learning experiences. Our curriculum covers three areas - engineering management and statistical quality engineering, applied computing, and innovation and law. All three areas are applicable to a wide range of engineering and business practices, provide the skills and knowledge that serve existing and emerging technologies, and can provide a competitive advantage for students interested in opportunities in Interdisciplinary Engineering.

  • Learn how to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.

  • Apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.

  • Function effectively as a team member to provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.

  • Develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.

Diverse Career Outcomes

Through exposure to content areas such as data structures and algorithms, engineering management, and introduction to intellectual property and patents law, you will develop a broad perspective of engineering that can lead to a wide range of careers.
