Our Administrative Team

Sarah McGregor

Sarah McGregor | Director

Sarah McGregor has earned an MA TESOL from Teachers College, Columbia University, and an MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in International and Multicultural Education at the University of San Francisco. She has taught in China, Costa Rica, New York and California. She began her Gateways career as an instructor teaching Business English. She loves listening to jazz, taking dance classes, and playing with her dog.


Kimberly Lynn Green

Kim Green | Associate Director/Instructor

Kim has worked at International Gateways for more than 15 years. She oversees faculty and student affairs. Kim also teaches higher level courses at International Gateways. She has a Master's degree in TESOL from Seattle University and taught ESL classes in places such as Japan, Seattle and Monterey before working at International Gateways. In her spare time, Kim likes to cook, eat and travel to learn about new cultures.


Cindy Graham

Cindy Graham | Operations & Finance Manager (Housing Liaison)

Cindy has been with International Gateways for over 17 years and is currently our Administrative Coordinator and Housing Liaison. She assists with finance, operations, front office management, and housing for students. Cindy graduated from Ottawa University with a degree in Education. She also has a degree in Social Sciences from San José State University. She lived in the Democratic Republic of Congo for 20 years before moving to San José. Cindy enjoys baking, gardening, traveling, and spending time with friends and her dog.

Marianne Wheeler

Marianne Wheeler | Instructor, LLD Department Liaison with MA-TESOL Students

Marianne Wheeler is proud to have worked at SJSU for over 20 years. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in English at U.C. Santa Barbara and her Master's in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Language at San José State University. She previously taught ESL at several community colleges and language schools throughout the Bay Area and also EFL in Japan. In her free time, Marianne enjoys reading and playing games with her children.


Julie Yang

Julie Yang | Instructor, MBP Program Coordinator, Graduate Student Advisor

Dr. Julie Yang is the coordinator of the MBA Preparation program and an instructor at International Gateways. She advises students who have questions about getting a Master's degree. A Chinese native, she earned a B.A. in Education from East China Normal University in Shanghai, China in 1986. She then went abroad and earned a Ph.D. in International Education from University of London Institute of Education in London, England. She has lived in China, the UK, Canada, and the U.S., and taught ESL for over ten years in schools, colleges, and universities in Canada and the U.S. In her free time, Dr. Yang enjoys reading and traveling.


Laura Comoletti

Laura Comoletti | Instructor, Oral Communication Skills Leader

Laura is the Oral Communication Skill Leader at International Gateways. She coordinates all of the speaking and listening classes. She has been teaching English for fifteen years and has been at International Gateways for over seven years. She received her MA in TESOL from Monterey Institute of International Studies and has taught English at several language schools in the U.S. and in Japan. In her free time she enjoys Pilates, riding her bicycle, and spending time with her family.


Benjamin William Soller

Ben Soller | Academic Coordinator / Instructor

Ben is the Written Communication Skill Leader for International Gateways and has been teaching here since 2005. He has a B.A. in History from the University of Washington and an M.A. in TESL from Northern Arizona University. In addition to coordinating all the writing classes and the SWEET, Ben works with several of our Japanese university partners who send students to San José. He enjoys listening to music, singing karaoke, riding his bike, and watching movies.


Sally Teeple

Sally Teeple | Instructor, Electives Coordinator

Sally Teeple grew up in Southern California, but she has lived in the Bay Area since 2005. She received a BA in Linguistics from UC Santa Cruz, and an MA in TESOL from San José State University. She has been a teacher at International Gateways since 2008. When she's not teaching, she enjoys bird-watching, hiking, reading, and playing musical instruments.


Marwa Abbas

Marwa Abbas | Semester at SJSU Manager / Instructor

Marwa Abbas earned her MA in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from San Jose State University in 2006. She was appointed at San José State University as an ESL instructor in 2007. She first joined Spartan Athletics as the Learning Specialist in 2008 and later became an Athletic Advisor for six teams (football, women’s basketball, gymnastics, men and women’s soccer and volleyball). Her prior responsibility was to mentor and guide student athletes to graduate in a timely manner. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her daughter Jannah as well as swimming and camping.


Grace Kee

Grace Kee| Instructor / Undergraduate Student Advisor

Grace has a BA in Sociology and Cultural Anthropology from UC Santa Barbara and an MA in Applied Linguisitics from University of New England.  Grace has been teaching English for over ten years.  Before joining International Gateways, she taught English in South Korea to students of all ages. She enjoys traveling and has visited over twenty countries.  She also enjoys yoga, reading, spending time outdoors and with her two young daughters.



Our Admission Team

Shannon Huang

Shannon Huang | Admissions Manager

Shannon oversees new student applications and admissions at International Gateways. She also advises both new and current students regarding immigration, application, and registration issues, and helps students in accessing other resources as needed. Shannon has a Bachelor's degree in Business Accounting from San José State University. In her free time, she likes to knit, exercise with her dogs, and find ways to replace conventional products with natural or organic alternatives.
