The Conditional Admission / Eligibility program at San Jose State University is designed for international students who are academically qualified to apply for admission to the university, but have an insufficient score on the TOEFL or IELTS. Conditional admission is an opportunity for you to study for at least one semester at International Gateways, SJSU's intensive English program, until you obtain the required TOEFL or IELTS score. After you earn the score, you can submit a formal application to one of San Jose State University's degree programs via CSUMentor.

Please note that acceptance to the Conditional Admission / Eligibility program does not guarantee acceptance to a degree program at the university-- students who are offered conditional admission must submit a CSUMentor application to a degree program upon achieving the minimum TOEFL or IELTS score required.

When is the Deadline to Apply?

Conditional admission applications are accepted year-round. There is no deadline and students can apply for conditional admission anytime.
