Apply now for Summer 2012
Application Deadline is March 2
The Conventional MBA program is designed for individuals who prefer the rich and vibrant educational atmosphere provided by the San José State University campus setting. The full-time program is structured more traditionally with a small student cohort who will proceed through the program and complete the MBA within an eighteen to twenty-four month timeline. Instruction in our MBA program is a combination of case studies, lectures, team projects, simulation games, computer analysis, student presentations, and presentations by members of the business community.
Each incoming Conventional MBA cohort will begin the program in the Summer term. Semester-length courses that meet one evening or afternoon per week will be offered during the 16-week Fall and Spring semester cycles. A limited number of accelerated courses will be available on campus during the Winter terms. There will be a Study Abroad opportunity with a select number of our partner schools in the second Summer of enrollment. Students will be required to take the MBA core courses in a sequenced lock-step manner. The four elective courses may be selected from the Conventional MBA general schedule.
The Conventional MBA program brings together high achievers from a variety of academic, career, and cultural backgrounds. Though work experience is not required for admission, new students entering the Conventional MBA program will have on average up to 5 years experience in the work force. Opportunities will exist for students to work as graduate assistants with our distinguished faculty.
All of the Lucas School’s MBA programs are generalist in nature, though students have the ability to take elective courses in their area of interest. The reason for this is twofold: to give students a broad overview and understanding of all of the major functional areas required to successfully manage an enterprise, and to help students move into the ranks of upper management rather than becoming functional specialists.
