Capture the Dream
Capture the Dream, Inc., a registered 501(c)(3) California nonprofit dedicated to helping under-served and at-risk individuals succeed at school and find fulfilling, sustaining careers. Each year, one of the ways that Capture the Dream, Inc. helps to further education and support future community leaders is by offering two $1,000 scholarships for graduating high school students and/or continuing undergraduate students:
- Single Parent Scholarship 2013
One (1) $1,000 scholarship available. Low-income, single parents who are California residents and will be enrolled full or part-time at a 2- or 4-year institution in Fall 2013 are eligible to apply. - Minorities in Leadership Scholarship 2013
One (1) $1,000 scholarship available. Low-income, minority students who are California residents and will be enrolled full time at a 4-year institution in Fall 2013 are eligible to apply.
Both scholarships require a completed Scholarship Application Form, Cover Letter,
Professional Resume, Official High School and/or College Transcript, Financial Aid
Web-Award Confirmation, Essay (1000 words or less), and a Letter of Recommendation.
There is no application fee.

AAUW San Jose Local Scholarship
Scholarships are granted only to local women whose permanent home address is San Jose,
Santa Clara, Milpitas or Campbell
Eligibility
- Minimum GPA 3.0
- Completed two years of college
- Enrolled in four year university, fall 2013
Scholarship Award
- Scholarship amounts from $1,000 to $2,500
- Total of $19,000 to be awarded this year

Women A.H.E.A.D. Scholarship
About
The mission of the YWCA Silicon Valley is to empower women, children and families, and to eliminate racism, hatred and prejudice.
In 2002, The YWCA Silicon Valley was given the responsibility of managing a scholarship program with an endowment from “Women Attorneys Helping Education and Development.”
Application Guidelines
Attached is the application form you will need to apply for the Women A.H.E.A.D. Scholarship for the 2013-2014 academic year. This scholarship is available to any woman who will be attending a post-secondary educational or vocational training program. If selected, recipient will receive up to $500 for the 2013-2014 academic year.
Eligibility
In order to be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:
- You must be a permanent resident of Santa Clara County, State of California.
- You must be planning to attend an accredited California college, university, or trade/vocational school during the 2013-2014 academic year.
- You may be registered as either a full or part-time student.
- Your most recent academic record achieved a minimum GPA of 2.0.
- You must be a woman.
Application Process
Applicants must follow all specific instructions within this application and all items must be complete. In order for your application to be processed by the Scholarship Committee, it must contain the following:
- A completed application.
- A current academic transcript (if applicable).
- High School students: two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a faculty member of your current school.
- Returning students: two letters of recommendation and if currently employed, one letter must be from your employer.
- A 100-200 word essay describing your for need for financial assistance.
Application Deadline
Submit all application materials to the YWCA Silicon Valley by March 29, 2013.
Susanne B. Wilson Scholarship
About
Each year, a young woman from one of the YWCA programs is selected each year to receive this special award. This scholarship is named in honor of a long-time distinguished volunteer of the YWCA, Susanne "Susie" B. Wilson. For almost 40 years, Susie Wilson has been the driving force behind the YWCA of Silicon Valley. Susie's belief in the YWCA's mission of empowering women and eliminating racism makes her fearless and tireless in her efforts to raise support, both morally and financially, for the YWCA.
Application Guidelines
Attached is the application form you will need to apply for the YWCA Silicon Valley Susanne B. Wilson Scholarship for the 2013-2014 academic year. This scholarship is available to any woman currently involved in a YWCA program. If selected, recipient will receive $500 for the 2013-2014 academic year.
Eligibility
In order to be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:
- You must be a permanent resident of Santa Clara County, State of California.
- You must be planning to attend an accredited California college, university, or trade/vocational school during the 2013-2014 academic year.
- You may be registered as either a full or part-time student.

- You must be a woman and have been, or are currently an active participant in a YWCA Silicon Valley program.
