General advising information
It is highly recommended that students see an advisor in BSAC during their first semester at SJSU to ensure that they are aware of all degree requirements for a business major. In addition, for newly-admitted upper-division transfers, advisors can assist students with assessing their transfer coursework. One of the primary goals of the advising staff is to ensure that each individual business student has a clear path to graduation once they begin their academic program at SJSU. Based on the fact that all students must attend mandatory orientations, it may not be essential to see an advisor prior to the first semester. However, for those students who may have questions either before or after they have attended an orientation, they are welcome to come in for advising.
Please maintain all documents received from the university to include admissions, financial aid, transcripts from other institutions, petitions you may have submitted, academic advising handouts throughout your academic endeavors at SJSU. Although advisors generally have access to most records, it is advisable to maintain your own until you graduate.
Be sure to access your "To do" list through MySJSU prior to registration each semester to ensure no registration "holds" have been placed on your record. Be sure to take the necessary action when things are listed. See an advisor in BSAC if you have any questions.
Individuals who are planning to transfer to SJSU as business majors may set up an appointment with an advisor in BSAC. Students do not to be enrolled or admitted to SJSU to be advised in the College of Business.
