Faculty-in-Residence Program

EPortfolios

  • Kathy Sucher
    Professor, Nutrition & Food Science

As Faculty-in-Residence for ePortfolios, Kathy supports campus-wide efforts to improve student success through the utilization of electronic portfolios. She has developed materials and workshops for faculty, with an advisory group, to help orient SJSU faculty to the effective use of ePortfolios on the platform of TaskStream. She also collaborates closely with the Students Actively Engaged in Learning (SAIL) Coordinator for the purpose of integrating cross disciplinary and co-curricular activities and learning into the student portfolios.

Kathy supports faculty nominated by colleges to pilot electronic portfolios with their students, assesses the outcomes of the pilots, and submit recommendations on the next phase of an ePortfolio program on campus. One of her key goals will be to have a comprehensive program of interest and benefit to faculty to help the campus achieve the learning goals and vision set out for 2010 by the SJSU strategic plan (for more information on the vision and goals of 2010, see http://www.sjsu.edu/strategicplan/ ).
