The Center for Faculty Development maintains programs that support faculty teaching, scholarship and service throughout their career lifespan.

Carnegie Academy of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) Program

San Jose State University is participating in a research project with the Carnegie Academy of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (CASTL).

Course Design Program

The Course Design Program will benefit faculty who are concerned with student learning outcomes and interested to transform their courses to enhance student learning effectiveness. Program offers development opportunities, instructional design consultation, and rewards.

Educated Person Dialogue

What is the meaning of an Educated Person for students? What is our role as faculty? These are just a few of many questions discussed in the campus dialogue learning community founded in 2003.

Faculty-in-Residence

The Faculty-in-Residence program provides faculty support that is focused on a particular initiative or area that is a current priority within the University. A faculty-in-residence provides campus and departmental workshops, individual consultation with faculty or departments and organizes campus-wide events related to his/her area of expertise.

New Faculty Orientation

The Center for Faculty Development offers a New Faculty Orientation Program. The orientation provides an opportunity to collaborate with new colleagues, an introduction to the university, an introduction to support services that are available, and tips for being a successful faculty member.
