Incorporating High Impact Educational Practices
The High Impact Educational Practices framework captures a set of instructional and mentoring activities that have been demonstrated to promote student retention and success. Several offices and units on our campus strive to support faculty as they incorporate these instructional practices into their repertoire. In particular:
- Service Learning - Faculty interested in developing a service-learning component for their courses are encouraged to visit the SJSU Center for Community Learning and Leadership, or to contact Michael Fallon (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Elena Klaw (email@example.com) , Co-Directors of the Center.
- Capstone Courses - Many departments at SJSU offer capstone courses or other kinds of "culminating experiences". Faculty interested in developing or discussing such courses are encouraged to contact CFD staff. They may also wish to peruse the portfolio of descriptive posters, capturing the variety of such courses at SJSU [coming soon]
- Internal Grants - Faculty interested in securing resources to assist them in including students in their research projects are encouraged to visit the Undergraduate Research Grants section of our website.
