You Make The Difference

You Make The Difference is designed as the first level of the Division's recognition program. Employees are encouraged to praise each other for outstanding performance. Throughout each service group area, two-part praise card displays are visible. Each display has a poster that reminds employs to recognize above and beyond performance and blank praise cards. The two-part praise card serves a dual purpose. The top card recognizes the outstanding staff member and the receipt card goes to their manager for further reinforcement. The manager forwards the receipt card to their Associate Vice President (AVP) who in turn forwards the information to the service group's representative on the Division Recognition Committee.

Division employees are encouraged to recognize their co-workers as well as their subordinates and manager. Recognition cards can be given to any Division employee (it is not limited to the giver's service group) and student employees. At the end of each quarter/semi-annually, the AVP provides a nominal/modest reward to the givers and receivers. Rewards typically include promotional items (e.g., certificate to be used in bookstore or campus food shop). During regularly scheduled service group meetings, the AVP discusses teamwork and stresses the importance of recognizing outstanding performance

When employees go above and beyond (i.e., do something extra to help others) it is important to recognize this contribution. You Make The Difference provides a way for Division employees to recognize the outstanding contributions of other employees.
