Student Training Opportunities
Training for Human Subjects Research
CITI (Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative)
San Jose State University has contracted with CITI (Collaborative Institutional Training
Initiative) to provide tutorials to the SJSU community on responsible conduct in research.
A student training module for conducting research involving human subjects is available through CITI. The training for students is recommended but not mandatory, unless it is part of a class assignment or the student is receiving federal funding for the research. Students should be aware that the sponsoring professor that signs off on their IRB protocols must have completed the training requirement. If the professor has previously completed the training, it is not necessary to include the certificate with every student IRB application.
thesis workshop
The online thesis workshop is for students who are completing a Plan A Master's Thesis or a Plan C Creative Project for their culminating experience requirement. The workshop provides an overview of the life cycle of a thesis, common errors, publishing options, and a sample thesis.
