Harassment-Hostile Environment
Harassment or hostile environment is a type of discrimination. It can be:
- Verbal harassment (epithets, derogatory comments or slurs)
- Physical harassment (assault, impeding or blocking movement)
- Visual forms of harassment (derogatory posters, cartoons or drawings)
- Favors (unwanted sexual advances, employment benefit on the condition of an exchange of sexual favors)
Harassment can occur on any of the protected bases. Sexual harassment is not the only form of harassment.
