Smoking Cessation

quit smoking

Presidential Directive (PD 2014-01) establishing SJSU as a Smoke Free Campus will take effect on August 1, 2015. San José State University is committed to promoting a healthy learning and working environment. Consistent with this commitment, smoking and tobacco use will be prohibited in all indoor and outdoor areas on campus, including vehicles and parking lots. Areas currently designated as smoking areas will be eliminated.

The effects of smoking, second hand smoke and tobacco have been well established. It is widely accepted that there are negative healthenvironmental and economic consequences as the result of smoking and the use of tobacco products.

We understand that this transition may be difficult for some. A variety of smoking cessation programs are available through your health benefit provider, LifeMatters, EAP, and other organizations.
