Diversity Program

During the fall semester Diversity Programs and Well U co-hosted 3 Dance Around the World workshops and averaged 17 participants per workshop. In order to increase interest and attendance in our program activities, we focused on outreach at the Employee Services Fair, Spartapalooza and other campus wide events. Our efforts paid off! During the spring semester we hosted 4 more Dance Around the World workshops and increased the average number of participants to 30 per workshop! 

This was the second year Diversity Programs partnered with the Communication Studies Department to present Difficult Dialogues (Diversity Dialogues last year). Some of the 12 topics covered were freedom of speech, stereotypes, disabilities, words that hurt, and environmental issues.

After an introduction to the topic, discussion groups were formed and participants shared their personal experiences in relation to the topic. These dialogues gave people an opportunity to gain a better understanding of diversity issues and their impacts.
