Set Up Your Email Account
SJSU uses GMail for all employees. Contact your department IT support person if you need help using GMail on your work computer. GMail provides SJSU with:
- Instant Messaging
- Meeting management
The standard for university faculty and staff email addresses is email@example.com.
The standard for university student email addresses is firstname.lastname@example.org.
Email addresses are automatically assigned to employees when they are entered into the computer system, MySJSU, as an employee, Emeritus, Volunteer or when a faculty Faculty and Staff Directory contract is entered prior to hire. When your name appears in the Faculty and Staff Directory you will be assigned an email automatically. If your name is not listed in the directory yet then your department will need to make sure your paperwork is complete and turned into Faculty Affairs, for faculty, or HR for staff employees.
Students with email questions or problems will need to contact the University Help desk or visit the Student EMail web page.
