Message from the Director of Academic Budgets
The Office of Academic Planning and Budgets (APB) engages in budget planning and management activities in support of the Academic Affairs Division (AAD) throughout the year. As the Director of Academic Budgets, I work closely with the
Provost, Deans, Associate Vice Presidents (AVPs), Directors, Chairs, and Resource
Analysts to facilitate requests for funding and meet the changing needs of the colleges
and AVP units.
My office provides ongoing support to the Provost's Cabinet (Academic Affairs Leadership Team - AALT) and the Academic Affairs Budget Advisory Task Force (AABATF) by producing data-driven reports to facilitate discussion, analysis, and allocation
decisions for academic affairs. Both of these groups meet to discuss the strategic
priorities of the Division and develop plans for meeting state budget requirements. This year, in anticipation
of state budget reductions, the Division is adhering to the university’s Core Principles for Budget Planning in meeting the Academic Plan 2017 (PDF).
Also, the Division’s Resource Analysts, through its Financial Liaison Group (FLG), are guided by my office to implement the decisions of the Provost, Deans, and AVPs
for consistent administration of division-wide affairs. The Financial Liaison Group
meets several times during the semester to administer annual allocations and changes
in university and division-wide policies; implement budget management processes; and
discuss the operational needs of academic and AVP units.
We encourage you to browse this website for more information on our budget planning,
allocation and administrative services. Details of the budget planning process and
the distribution and use of AAD revenue are provided. If you have any questions or
you are just curious and want to know more about Academic Planning and Budgets, please
feel free to drop in. My office staff and I are available to provide information to campus faculty, staff, students, and
administrators.
Have a wonderful school year!
Natalie Harding
