Be an SJSU Advocate
Unprecedented budget cuts to higher education have forced the university to close its doors to thousands of well-qualified students. It is now more important than ever for all university stakeholders -- faculty, staff, students, parents, alumni and friends of the university -- to become advocates for higher education. Remind legislators and the governor that education is integral to the state's economic recovery, workforce needs and international competitiveness.
You can make a difference. You don't have to be an expert -- just care enough to get involved. Advocacy advances our cause because our state representatives listen to voters.
- Write letters to your legislators and to the governor, opinion pieces and letters to editors of newspapers and other publications.
- Call your legislators, radio talk shows, organizations and your friends.
- Visit legislators in their district offices or in Sacramento, or local elected officials and community events sponsored by legislators.
