 Required

    • ●      Licensed in the state of California as a Psychologist, MFT, or is a LCSW.
    • ●      Demonstrated effectiveness in counseling work with a variety of racial/ethnic groups and diversities including multi-racial identity, socioeconomic status, gender, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, disabilities, religion, etc.;
    • ●      Clinical experience with individuals, couples and groups;
    • ●      Clinical experience using a brief therapy model;
    • ●      Awareness of, sensitivity to, and knowledge in facilitating the personal and educational goals of a multicultural population;
    • ●      Strong clinical and crisis management skills;
    • ●      Experience in providing consultation to various stakeholders;
    • ●      Knowledge and commitment to the application of the highest standards of legal and ethical principles in mental health practices
    • ●      Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills 

 Preferred

  • ●      Comprehensive understanding of, skilled, and interested in providing counseling for ethnically diverse cultures, especially Latino cultures and for international students;
  • ●      Experience and interested in providing counseling for mental health issues such as substance use, eating disorders and body image, LGBTQ and gender identity, autistic spectrum;
  • ●      Previous experience providing personal counseling services in a diverse college or university setting;

Responsibilities

Candidates must address the mental health, educational and academic achievement needs of a student population of great diversity (i.e., ethnic, racial, country of origin, gender, sexual orientation, transgendered, disability, socioeconomic status, immigration status, religious diversity, etc.). 

Summary of Duties

Under the general supervision of the Director of Counseling Services, the selected candidate is expected to provide a full range of clinical services, including short-term counseling for students, risk assessment and triage, crisis intervention and management, and case management; provide referrals and consultation for faculty, staff, parents, administrators, and university community members regarding issues that affect the educational, developmental, and psychological well-being of students; and, work collaboratively with other Counseling Services personnel.

Salary and Benefits

Excellent benefits for full-time appointments longer than six months, including pension plan, health insurance, vision benefits, etc.  In the CSU system, counselors serve as members of the faculty and are represented by the faculty bargaining unit.

Salary Range:         Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Eligibility:      Employment is contingent upon proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
