First Generation College Students

The purpose of GENERATE is to promote leadership, visibility, support, coordinated resource exchange, and college success for those who identify as First-Generation College Students. We further hope to support teaching and relevant research. We aim to foster community collaboration toward this purpose comprised of students, staff, faculty, and community members.
Are you the first in your family to attend college or graduate school? Congratulations
and welcome to San José State University! Over half of undergraduate students at
San José State University are the first in their family to attend college . . . so
you are not alone!
GENERATE is a partnership between Counseling Services, the Division of Student Affairs, MOSAIC Cross-Cultural Center, Student Involvement, Peer Connections, Residential Life, and others to support the success of first-generation college students.
