Back Office Exception
Back Office refers to a group of products that do not interact with people (except when maintenance is required), such as products that reside in either a telecommunication closet or data center.
For example, if a server in a data center routinely operates without human interaction, then the server qualifies as a back office exception.
Back office products are exempt from Section 508 Standards. However, if the software and/or application can be accessed remotely, then Section 508 Standards apply and you do not have a back office exception.
To request a Back Office exception, submit the following:
- E&IT Exceptions Documentation for Section 508 Compliance Form (pdf)
- E&IT Procurement Checklist
- Requisition
The Buyer in Contracts & Purchasing Services will work with you to determine if the E&IT product(s) qualify for an exception.
