B.S. Recreation – Concentration in Recreation Management
The B.S. Recreation Degree Program offers a specialized concentration in Recreation Management. This concentration will help prepare students to take management positions in recreation organizations in the public, nonprofit and private sectors and to take the National Recreation and Park Association’s certification exam to earn the Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification and the California Board of Recreation & Park Certification (CBRPC) Recreator Certified exam. Recreation professionals find employment with federal, state, county, and city recreation agencies/parks; college unions and student/campus activity centers; non-profit/volunteer agencies; armed forces; commercial, resort, camp and outdoor education recreation programs; theme parks and tourism enterprises; corporate training; and event planning/management. The concentration is comprised of 38 units of core classes, 15 units of specialized recreation management classes and 8 units of approved electives. The internship includes a 400 hour full-time experience under the supervision of a faculty member and a professional in an agency setting.
