Application Form

Membership Information

Membership in A.K.D includes a one-year subscription to Sociological Inquiry. With your membership certificate you will receive a form that must be mailed to activate the subscription.

Undergraduate Students:

  • You must be an Officially declared sociology major or demonstrate a serious interest in sociology within an official program at this school
  • You must be at least a junior
  • You must have an overall GPA of 3.2 on a 4-point scale, and a 3.2 in the sociology classes taken at this school
  • You must have completed at least 12 units (4 classes) of sociology (credit/no credit classes do not count).

Graduate Students:

  • You must have completed one full semester of graduate study in sociology with a graduate GPA of 3.0(B) or better, and
  • You must be continuing in the program of study leading towards a Graduate Degree in Sociology at this school.

Application received by Nov 2nd will be forwarded to the National Office of AKD

Submit the following to the Sociology Dept. Office (DMH 241)

  • Completed Application form
  • Attach a list of the Sociology courses you have taken and the grades earned
    (Attach a printout of your unofficial transcripts.)
  • Attach a cashiers check, personal check or cash
    payable to 'SOCIOLOGY CLUB of SJSU' and write "AKD" on the check's memo line.

    For membership dues of $40
    & Add $8.00 if you wish an Honor Cord to wear with graduation robe
    & Add $5.00 if you want a lapel pin.
    Total for 3 items: $53

ALPHA KAPPA DELTA Honor Cord

Proudly wear Alpha Kappa Delta colors at your Graduation!

Add the Society Honor cord to your cap and gown to display your achievements. The Honor cord is teal, double-twined cords, 58 inches long knotted in the middle with 5 inch tassels on both ends of each cord. Cost: $8.00

To order an honor cord circle 'yes' in the 'Honor Cord Wanted?' space on the AKD application and add $8.00 to the check total.
