CHAMP was honored with a Collaborative Project Award from SJSU’s Community Engagement Collaborative in May 2013. The award recognizes
the Center's excellence in facilitating interdisciplinary education through strategic
partnerships with community organizations.
Applied and Translational Research
CHAMP faculty research focuses on factors that enhance mental, physical, and cognitive wellness, and on promoting health equity among diverse populations.
Building Community Partnerships
CHAMP partners with community agencies to promote physical activity and wellness among
older adults. Students learn community capacity building strategies through Wellness
Fairs and other outreach efforts.
Student Education and Training
CHAMP develops interdisciplinary training opportunities for students in allied health professions to work with older adults from diverse backgrounds.
Welcome to the Center on Healthy Aging in Multicultural Population at San Jose State University. The mission of the Center is to promote healthy aging among multicultural and diverse populations living in the San Francisco Bay area. With faculty affiliates from all academic disciplines at SJSU, the Center facilitates interdisciplinary aging research, education and training, and strategic partnerships with community-based organizations working with older adults.
CHAMP is housed in the College of Health and Human Sciences which is home to applied and professional disciplines serving dynamic societal needs and dedicated to promoting a healthy, ethical, and enlightened global community through innovative application of knowledge and scholarship.
