Dr. Bettina Aptheker will discuss the arduous and different struggles experienced by minority women to gain the right to vote as well as ways in which woman suffrage was always intertwined with struggles against racism, white supremacy, lynching, settler colonialism, and anti-immigrant insularity. The presentation will be followed by Q&A.
Explore the Art of Remembrance Altar Exhibit in virtual reality! This interactive 3D experience will give you an opportunity to learn the meanings and history of this 3,000-year-old ritual of welcoming the spirit of the dead and celebrating their legacies. For the first time ever we will be including a Spartan Community Altar. This includes photographs submitted by our Spartan familia in honor of their loved ones. May their legacy and memory live on.

Spartan Speaker Series
The Spartan Speaker Series brings distinguished authors, critics, scientists, activists, and artists to our campus to discuss critical issues in our society impacting students.
Every October is devoted to bringing awareness to Intimate Partner and Domestic Violence. This is achieved through educational programs, workshops, and online campaigns. The mission is to empower our campus community to work towards ending gender based violence. We all deserve to be respected, to be treated with dignity, and a life free of violence.
The César E. Chávez Community Action Center (CCCAC) connects SJSU students with civic engagement opportunities that deepen educational experience while promoting a lifelong commitment to activism and social justice, which are at the heart of the César Chávez legacy.
CommUniverCity encourages students, businesses, faith groups, residents, advocacy groups, community benefit organizations, corporate partners, and government officials to engage in an open dialogue about the needs of their community, and provides them with the tools and the framework to spring their ideas into action.
The Center for Community Learning & Leadership (CCLL) promotes service-learning and community engagement; collaborating with faculty, students and community organizations for academic advancement, professional enhancement, and serving the common good.
The Writing Center offers a variety of resources to help students become better writers. We'll be your guides through the often bewildering world of words, and you'll emerge with the communication skills necessary to your success as a student.
The Spartan Food Pantry is a walk-in, full-service, staffed, food assistance program offering non-perishable goods, fresh produce, and refrigerated items to eligible students.
SJSU King Library has late-night tutors available on Zoom from Sunday to Wednesday between 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. to help you ace that next exam. No appointments required; students are attended to on a first-come, first-served basis.
